Mothering Sunday last year (22nd March) fell a few days after the first national lockdown was announced. As we prepare to celebrate Mothering Sunday again this week we reflect on all that has happened over the last twelve months. We give thanks for our mothers and all who ‘mother’ us (fathers are included in this), who have tirelessly worked to help children with their online learning and those who, as key workers in many areas of life, kept our hospitals, shops, and emergency services going. We are beginning to see some light at the end of a very dark tunnel and patience is needed to ensure a safe return to some sort of normality. This Sunday may we celebrate the blessings of motherhood and also the spiritual blessings we receive from our ‘mother’ church.
