Prayers this week for:
Those troubled in mind, body or spirit:
Richard Gunton; Revd. Les Rees; Bill Child; Rosemary, Martha; Vince; Jane Williams
We remember the increasing numbers of those who have fallen victim to CoVid 19 and all who are anxious about the future.
Pray for the medical and care staff working long hours and often covering for colleagues who have tested positive.
Those whose anniversaries fall at this time;
Joseph Woolley; Jenny Prentice; Harold Pearce; Anto Land
We continue to pray for families struggling to cope financially, we remember those who have been made unemployed and those uncertain about their futures. We give thanks for those running food banks, especially at this time the Salvation Army and the response to the Reverse Advent Calendar appeal.
As we celebrate the Christingle service this week we give thanks for the work of the Children’s Society in reaching out to families and young people in troubled situations.

Crib/Christingle Service – 4 pm today Sunday
Entry by ticket ~ Please contact Liz Binsley for tickets if you want to come along (01543 472761). We are hoping to live stream the service so that others can take part remotely. We will all be making Christingles as part of the service and so those who have tickets to the service will need to bring along the ‘ingredients’. A list will be issued with the tickets. If you have any queries, please contact Rev Marilyn. If you are watching the live stream and want to make Christingles you will need (for each one you want to make) an orange, a small candle, a square of tinfoil approx. 7cm/3in, some red tape (we use electrical tape) or red ribbon (if using ribbon you will need Sellotape to hold it in place), cocktail sticks, soft sweets, mini marshmallows, dried fruit, etc to put on the sticks, some matches, a knife, and scissors. Some wipes are useful as hands can get sticky.
Carol singing ~ Monday 21st December from 4.00 pm
Carol singing will take place around the village at the following places: Hadley Street 4 pm, Savey Lane 4.20 pm, Churchfields 4.40 pm, Ferrers Road 5 pm, Yew Tree Gardens 5.15 pm, Alwyn Road 5.25 pm, Lovell Road 5.35 pm, Lightwood Road 5.45 pm, Hollys Road 5.55 pm. (All times are approximate) Join us if you can, or just listen through your window.
Thank you to all who gave gifts of toys and toiletries for the Pathway Refuge in Lichfield. The refuge is full at the moment and they wanted to thank everyone for their generous donations. We pray for the women and children seeking shelter from violent situations.
Children’s Society Boxes
Please note that I will not be collecting the Children’s Society Boxes until January 2021. Due to Covid19 restrictions, I will collect the Boxes directly from your home at a time convenient to you. Please do not deliver the boxes to Rosie, Cynthia or Viv. Deanne.
Because of Covid restrictions, we will need to issue tickets for the Midnight Mass service. Please contact Liz Binsley (01543 472761)
Don’t forget to bring along a present you have received to the 10 am service.
Face coverings in church are now a legal requirement just as they are required in supermarkets and other places. Yes, we all know that they are uncomfortable and difficult to wear, they steam up your glasses and it feels hard to breathe. But we do this to protect each other from transmission of the virus. During the pandemic lockdown we have been accustomed to making sacrifices to protect the well-being of others. This is a little thing that we can do to protect our Christian community from Covid-19.
Notice Sheets from Kings Bromley, Hamstall Ridware and Mavesyn Ridware
In addition to the Notice sheet for Yoxall, we will be sending out the Notice sheets for the other Churches in our Benefice each week so that we can all pray for one another at this time.
ST MICHAEL AND ALL ANGELS, HAMSTALL RIDWARE
We are establishing a new link with the Spires Care Home in Lichfield and one of the things they would like is for members of our community to write a Christmas Card without a name on and they will distribute them to residents who don’t get them otherwise. If you are willing to write a cheery greeting in a card then please drop them off the Kay (the Boundary) or Liz and Mike or Judith Rickard.
Watch out for notices about other initiatives in this exciting new link.
